Anyone interested in starting Rogers County free fitness program for the Fall 2014 Session is invited to the Northeast Technology Center in Claremore tonight, August 5, promptly at 6pm. (That’s just north of Rogers State University on Hwy 88.)
Learn about how to get off your couch and complete a 5k race in TEN WEEKS. (Note, we’re not training speedy racers; we just want you to experience the joy and benefit of being able to go that distance. It’s a milestone for getting into a healthy lifestyle.)
Those who have already been through a session with us need not attend, but everyone is welcome.
Remember, this is FREE–your only expense will be the gas to get to our twice-per-week sessions at Claremore Lake, and any new shoes or other attire you might need for exercising.
Come tonight with your questions. We have ANSWERS!
Everyone–
We’ve gone from the polar vortex to the heat we usually get in summer.
The heat advisories for today, Tuesday, July 22 have caused us to cancel the sessions.
Stay cool, and do something active indoors, or in a pool.
DON’T FORGET THE MOCK 5k on THURSDAY–Wear Red for RAY.
We’re getting ready for the Fall Session, even as the Summer Session is not yet over. The Forms button now has the links to Registration forms for the Fall session–hard copy or on-line.
The Schedule:
FALL Information Meeting (new participants) Tues., Aug. 5th, 6 p.m. at NTC; and our Post/Pre Pace Activity (EVERYONE) Tues., Aug 12th, 6 p.m. at CHS Track. Workouts for FALL begin Thurs., Aug. 14th, 6 p.m. Claremore Lake.

Runners World Tulsa will be at Bike About in Downtown Claremore, Friday, July 18th, 6 – 8 p.m. – FREE shoe fitting/sizing; they will fit/size people on a first come first serve basis, and anyone wishing to purchase shoes may do so and RW will either have them that evening or order the shoes and bring them back to Bike About the following week. No having to drive to Tulsa for your running/walking shoes! They will also have a few other accessory items to purchase.
Just a quick reminder: Claremore Lake Park is closed today, July 3, as city crews prepare for the Independence Day festivities.
No RoCo Session at the Lake today, July 3.
Get your run/walk session on your own, or with a few buddies.
Have a safe Holiday, and we’ll see you next Tuesday at the Lake.
TRAIN FUN!
Here we are starting the fifth week of the Summer Session. So far, the heat has been tolerable.
This week also brings another clinic on Tuesday. At 6pm, Jennifer Harmon with Reaction Therapy will be speaking to you briefly before your workout – pay attention as it is all about INJURY PREVENTION.
Some great handouts went out with Renetta’s weekly email. Read those and see if you have any questions of Jennifer on Tuesday.

It was a warm evening for exercising. The temp was in the mid-eighties, and it was humid. The last heat index we saw before going to the lake was 95. Highest so far this year.
Fortunately, there was a strong wind from the south. It made it quite bearable.
And…we had a TERRIFIC CROWD of eager participants in each group. There are 15-25 in each group! That’s fantastic.
Every group took it easy in the heat, and no one suffered too much. Actually, everyone enjoyed getting finished and could rightly say they were proud to have been there.
REMINDER: THE LAST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE SUMMER SESSION IS THIS THURSDAY, JUNE 5. Our training is progressive, and it will not be good for you to jump in to our regime after this second week. So, if you miss that, look for us in August as we gear up for the Fall Session.
TRAIN FUN!
Over 100 members, new and previous, joined in the first session of Rogers County Fitness last evening at Claremore Lake.
Reminder: Next Thursday, June 5 is the deadline for signing up for the summer session–the training is progressive and you cannot miss out on the early stages. 6PM sharp, every Tuesday and Thursday, at Claremore Lake.
