Not too late to join – Registration open through Aug. 15th

Our FREE couch to 5k program has officially started! Come EARLY to register if you have not yet.

Meet us at 6:00 p.m. at Claremore Lake Park (last shelter past bathrooms around curves and on right-directly across lake from fishing dock)- look for banner! Arrive EARLY to register if you have not yet.

We will have registrations/pre-surveys available until Friday, Aug. 15th.

We will have short announcements, then START our walk or walk/run workout in two large groups, but will be breaking into our smaller like fitness level groups during the workout and finishing by stretching and getting to know each other. You’ll never be there more than an hour, UNLESS you choose to stay and socialize.

We will continue in our small groups for 12 weeks every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The workouts will progress slowly each week up to 3 miles the final few weeks. Experienced mentors will lead and encourage small groups of like fitness levels each workout.

Come get off the couch, learn to walk or walk/run with good form, and have fun getting healthier!

We also have two separate groups (Free Walk and Free Run) for those just wanting to keep their walking or running routines with a group – these two groups do not follow our set schedule, they go different paces and distances (5k, 10k, 15k, etc.) as designated by the participants in them.

For more information please read the links on this website, or call Renetta Harrison at 918-341-3166 or email at renettah@health.ok.gov with questions.

Free Couch to 5k Program – RoCo Fit Begins Again in August

Free and fun RoCo Fit “Couch to 5k” Program begins August 6th. RoCo Fit volunteer mentors are ready to encourage participants to reach all types of goals, from finishing a 5k (3.1 miles) to reducing depression and stress. In addition, participants will receive weekly informational emails and motivational posts on the program’s RoCo LoCoMotion Facebook page. New fun incentives will be given to those finishing the program.

The first walk OR walk/run workout is on Tuesday, August 6th, 5:45 p.m. at Claremore Lake Park, newest shelter past bathrooms and across lake from boat and fishing dock-look for sign by shelter.

TWEENER Workouts – Keep Moving ‘Between’ our RoCo Fit Sessions

Hi all – We ended our session – but don’t stop your momentum and routine! Here is some help if you need a group workout –

From a spring mentor to anyone interested: We will be running Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 5:15, meeting at the shelter. We will run approx. 3-4 miles or so. I’m shooting for a slower pace, trying to keep the heart-rate down, especially with the heat. If we need to walk for portions….no problem. If anybody is interested, text me at ph. 918-519-0800 or hit me up on fb. thank you, Soren Lohmar

If anyone else is meeting and wants let people know, please feel free to post to our FB page – RoCo LoCo Motion. If you email me, I’ll also post it on our website. Hope everyone stays active. We will be starting again the first week of AUGUST. Registration will begin in July. Hope to see you then…or before.

Train fun – Also, I have several WHITE RoCo Fit shirts I’ll give to people if they keep a log of activity for this break between sessions – just show me in August! While sizes last…

Monster Mash Dash 5k and 1 Mile Run and/or Walk – FREE for Anyone and Everyone!

Thursday, October 25th, 6:00 p.m. – NEW COURSE! Start and finish at last shelter (across from boat/fishing dock). Costumes are encouraged but not required…make sure you can be active in them!

Everyone is invited to participate in the upcoming fun, free, Monster Mash Dash 5k and 1 mile fun run-walk, Thursday, 6:00 p.m., October 25th at Claremore Lake Park. All ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate. Comfortable costumes that allow walking or running safely are encouraged, but optional. This event marks the finish of RoCo Fit’s 2018 fall session. We want people to participate, celebrate and cheer on everyone as they make their goal of a 5k and becoming healthier.

This is a new course; the start/finish line is at the last shelter across the lake from the boat/fishing dock. We will take a group photo at 5:45 p.m. at the shelter and start races immediately afterwards. This is a fun Mock race, so there is no registration or official timing, but we will have a clock running for the entire race. This will be the first time many of our Couch to 5k program participants have finished 3.1 miles in a race. They have prepared these past 12 weeks and persevered through challenges improving their health each step. The mentors are excited to walk and run beside their group participants and encourage them across the finish line marking a milestone and creating an unforgettable memory with them.

RoCo Fit wants to thank all our sponsors and supporters for this event: RoCo Fit volunteer mentors, Rogers County Health Department, Healthy Community Partnership/Volunteers for Youth/TSET Healthy Living Program, and City of Claremore.

Fall Registration is Closed – Check back in 2019
