Well, Rats! But you gotta do what you gotta do…

The Advisory League is disappointed to announce the suspension of the spring session of RoCo Fit. This decision was not easy to make especially to kick off our 10th anniversary year. But to be sure we are doing our part to keep everyone healthy, we feel it is the best thing at this time. We are looking into a possible virtual training program. If we can make that happen within the next week we will post information here to our RoCo Fit FB page and our website RoCoFit.org.

NO GROUP WORKOUTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SPRING ROCO FIT TRAINING PROGRAM

We’ve Started!

Well, we’re meeting already at the Claremore Lake on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We start at 6pm from the Shelter north of the boat-dock, across the little cove.

Sign ups are accepted for one more week–please use the on-line sign up page.

Note on the Current COVID19 Pandemic: we are continuing as scheduled until or unless told otherwise by Local Health Authorities. Still, YOU SHOULD USE YOUR OWN BEST JUDGMENT about whether to come to the lake, most especially if you have a weakened immune system or are in a vulnerable group. We will update our status as conditions warrant.

New Year’s Resolution?

For those of you eager to get a head start on your New-Year Resolution to get more healthy, some important news: The Spring 2020 RoCo Fit session/season will begin on March 10. To help you commit, the on-line registration form is now updated and available. The Pre-Session Survey is available, but you might hold-off filling it out until closer to March, so it is accurate about what you get out of the training.

Thanks for your support and interest. Stay Healthy, friends.

A Major Award…

RoCo Fit has been recognized for helping improve the health of Rogers County with a 2019 Champion of Health Award from Oklahoma Turning Point Council. Nominators from Rogers County Healthy Community Partnership and TSET Healthy Living Program, RoCo Fit Coordinator and Advisory League members accepted the award at the OK Turning Point Luncheon Wednesday, Aug. 21st.

Not too late to join – Registration open through Aug. 15th

Our FREE couch to 5k program has officially started! Come EARLY to register if you have not yet.

Meet us at 6:00 p.m. at Claremore Lake Park (last shelter past bathrooms around curves and on right-directly across lake from fishing dock)- look for banner! Arrive EARLY to register if you have not yet.

We will have registrations/pre-surveys available until Friday, Aug. 15th.

We will have short announcements, then START our walk or walk/run workout in two large groups, but will be breaking into our smaller like fitness level groups during the workout and finishing by stretching and getting to know each other. You’ll never be there more than an hour, UNLESS you choose to stay and socialize.

We will continue in our small groups for 12 weeks every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The workouts will progress slowly each week up to 3 miles the final few weeks. Experienced mentors will lead and encourage small groups of like fitness levels each workout.

Come get off the couch, learn to walk or walk/run with good form, and have fun getting healthier!

We also have two separate groups (Free Walk and Free Run) for those just wanting to keep their walking or running routines with a group – these two groups do not follow our set schedule, they go different paces and distances (5k, 10k, 15k, etc.) as designated by the participants in them.

TWEENER Workouts – Keep Moving ‘Between’ our RoCo Fit Sessions

Hi all – We ended our session – but don’t stop your momentum and routine! Here is some help if you need a group workout –

From a spring mentor to anyone interested: We will be running Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 5:15, meeting at the shelter. We will run approx. 3-4 miles or so. I’m shooting for a slower pace, trying to keep the heart-rate down, especially with the heat. If we need to walk for portions….no problem. If anybody is interested, text me at ph. 918-519-0800 or hit me up on fb. thank you, Soren Lohmar

If anyone else is meeting and wants let people know, please feel free to post to our FB page – RoCo LoCo Motion. If you email me, I’ll also post it on our website. Hope everyone stays active. We will be starting again the first week of AUGUST. Registration will begin in July. Hope to see you then…or before.

Train fun – Also, I have several WHITE RoCo Fit shirts I’ll give to people if they keep a log of activity for this break between sessions – just show me in August! While sizes last…
